It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like a Non-Denominational Winter Holiday....

As all stores have been trying to tell us since October, it is officially holiday time. Trees to be trimmed, stockings to be stuffed, candles to be lit on that neat pencil-holder in Nina's room that Caroline has been admiring.

In light of that, I am very excited to post about tonight's wonderful Holiday Dinner. I hope everyone who attended enjoyed it as much as I did.

So, moving on to the food, where our options included: chicken cardinal(e), wild rice pilaf, lentil (veggie burger) patties, a wheel of brie, some saladz, dinner rolls, steamed baby carrots, and peppermint ice cream with the fixinz. (Note: picture not actually our dinner. Duh. There wasn't a tree in the dining hall)

Holy shit, a wheel of brie. Unlike Julia Child day, I was not responsible for half of it being gone. Only about a fourth today. Therefore, it could be enjoyed by many, which it most definitely was.

The chicken cardinal(e) was a little different than I expected; normally, it does not involve peppers, as it normally has mushrooms. It did have the cheese and ham (normally it is prosciutto) so it was pretty similar. Very, very nomz.

The wild rice pilaf was exotic and flavorful with sauteed mushrooms thrown in; I guess the mushrooms didn't cut it for the chicken, so the pilaf invited them over. Always a welcoming bunch, those grains of wild rice.

Mulled Cider is a drink enjoyed by all; and trust me, this cider was enjoyed by everyone...multiple times. I might have had more than my fair share, but, hey, we at Morrow are not socialists. Sorry, Obama. (Note: this is not a representation of the political ideology of Morrow House, Smith College, or the writer of this blog. It is just a desperate attempt to be funny. Please don't deport me, Obamz. Your wife is bangin')

Just as surprising as the veggie patties in the place of lentil patties, the sophomores were spotted at a side table, and not at the middle long table. Will this change be permanent? We will have to wait and see. All new developments will be updated.

Saving the best for last, dessert consisted of peppermint ice cream and many toppings. I added crushed oreos, whipped possibly dairy-less topping, and a little chocolate sauce. I wrote down my exact thoughts the moment I ate first spoonful of deliciousity: "Holy fucking shit, this is the greatest thing I've ever had. Omnom nom nom nommmmmmm nomity nomz."

Beth McGann has yet to be spotted again. We sincerely hope she can find her way back to Morrow Dining Hall in the near future. She is missed.

We finished our meal with the Mulled Cider--which we also started our meal with--and, somehow, the conversation turned to Emilio Estevez.
To quote Samara:
"Why does Emilio Estevez always eat in Morrow Dining Hall?"
"Because it's the fucking best-evez."

Hope to see you back here for the recap of Sunday brunch. There's gunna be some mornin' nomity nom nomz.

  1. I forgot to add: when I was eating the brie, I thought it was much more bitter than normal. However, I learned that I was actually eating some of the glitter that was on the table, thus making the brie more bitter.

  2. I think I got some of the glitterz in my eye. I am going blind up here. Also, the decor of the dhall was absolutely stunning. There were tears welling up in the eyes of 2012. Also missing from the Holiday Dinner spirit: Julie Fournier, Nevena Bule, Vilma Reyes, Rachel Wetmore, HVH, Nora Cothren, and Liz Balcom. Miss youzzz.
